Magic Prism / Development notes

The studio,
in progress.

The recorded changes behind each build. Magic Prism is in development; early access announcements go to the waitlist.

v0.5.1

  • Everything open from the first second: no more locked tabs or gated buttons anywhere in the studio.
  • The first-run spotlight tour is retired. A small Getting Started card in the corner walks you to your first image instead - same steps, nothing covering your screen. Dismiss tucks it into a corner Guide button; replay any time from Settings.
  • The Orient blockout canvas gets its own step in the guide.

v0.5.0

  • Orient: a blockout canvas on the Compose tab. Place cubes, cylinders, characters, and in-image text on a 3D-perspective stage instead of describing the layout in words.
  • Characters get an 8-way facing cycle; cubes flip between Face and Corner views or become cylinders; interior rooms add a back wall with wall and floor colors.
  • Multi-select with group move, scale, and rotate; 50-step undo/redo; Alt-drag clone; copy/paste; an on-canvas object pad for layer, facing, and color.
  • Visualize: describe a scene in prose and the app proposes a blockout you accept or reject.
  • Canvas-to-Prompt and Influence Generation: the canvas writes your shot fields and rides along as a composition-guide reference.
  • Fixes: the app's main typeface ships inside the app (no font CDN), first-run tour repairs, blockout stability.

v0.4.1

  • The app updates itself: check from Settings or let it check quietly on launch; new versions download in the background and install on restart.
  • Known limitation: until the app is code-signed, downloads verify over HTTPS but not by publisher signature, and SmartScreen still shows the unknown-publisher notice on first install.

v0.4.0

  • License activation: your purchase comes with a key. Activate once online, then work offline; moving machines is self-service.
  • Craft knowledge is delivered as a cloud pack that updates independently of the app.
  • The Production Bible run is watchable: fifteen agents by department with live status, visible critic gates, and a meter showing real token usage.
  • Crash-safe pipeline runs: checkpoints after every phase, resume from the last completed one.
  • Export Storyboard Sheet: a branded, shareable PNG of your scene with model, seed, and reference provenance under each beat.
  • Directing Range: a map of the craft techniques you have actually shipped, across your whole library.

v0.3.0

  • World Builder: an 8-section canon for characters, environments, objects, factions, and visual rules that every agent respects.
  • Production Bible pipeline upgrades: research phase, adversarial critic gates, cross-phase rewind.
  • Cast & World references with smart-chain continuity across beats.
  • Onboarding walkthrough and progressive feature unlocks.

v0.2.0

  • Multi-provider text layer (Gemini + Claude Code subscription auth).
  • Storyboard mode: plan a full multi-beat sequence from a script.
  • Smart Variant Auto Mode and per-beat reference controls.

v0.1.0

  • First packaged release: Compose studio, beat-by-beat directing, Google-powered image generation (bring your own key), local-first storage.
